Winter in the Dark Peak: View from Peep O’ Day

£300.00 Price excluding VAT

View from Peep O’ Day is a watercolour and mixed media painting and is from my  “Winter in the Dark Peak” collection. It is currently unframed so you may need to wait upto 3 weeks to allow for framing or you could have it framed yourself.

It is painted on the last of my Waterman paper using a very limited palette. So much colour even in the snow. I love living here.

Description

View from Peep O’ Day

I was driving home after visiting my Dad. The snow had fallen most of the night and I had gone the long way round in the morning. On the journey home however I found that most of the snow was melting but still visable “on’t tops” as my grandad would say. The view from Peep O’ Day was stunning. So I stopped and took several photographs with my phone. Not an easy feat when you are new to the technology.

The snow was almost transparent on the fields below the hlls showing the grass beneath. The sky was heavy suggesting that there would be more snow later. The diagonal nature of the bands of colour on the hills was dynamic and it was then I was inspired to do the collection.

Local Information on Peep O’ Day

Peep O’ Day is a renovated old farm house and offers holiday accomodation. It also has an eye shaped hole in it above the door that allows the morning sum to shine inside the house. The owners have thoughtfully added a notice on the side of their garden wall to explain. You would pass it on the road between Hayfield and Chinley. If you are doing some of the Dark Peak walks you would also pass it.
